Representations of Cholesterol
Three different molecular representations of the cholesterol molecule. The common chemical drawing illustrates bonding and connectivity, while the atomic model illustrates the spatial organization and size of the constituent atoms. On the right is a coarse-grained molecular-scale model which illustrates the essential shape of the molecule and the attractive and repulsive regions other molecules might feel as they approach.
